@lizhd Indeed. It's not that it isn't mid-century - on the contrary, it's indicative of it - but I'm simply a hardcore purist. For example, I've collected vintage cars off and on for some years, and I believe every one should be factory original down the very last nut and bolt. To me, hot rods and mods are an abomination, but the vast majority of collectors disagree. Is what it is. Capturing a beautiful piece of craftsmanship as it was conceived is the point, but we all have our own perspective. I just think a modern, new, or originally styled piece could've easily been sourced, instead of altering a collectible original. Not to put too fine of a nostalgic point on it, but there's a respect for the past that is all too lacking in people's perspectives today, especially in light of the lack of mass produced quality in today's world and the always moving forward mentality we engender these days.

I don't totally disagree with marmonhammer, but I sure do like the way that sideboard looks! I think its a good marriage in this case and makes the piece something really special.

Thanks for asking!
The color is called Ornamental White. I found it at Stoneworks of Augusta (GA) and they got it through a supplier in The Charlotte, NC area. I never saw that color at any of the other granite shops in our area. It was the cheapest of the 3 colors I considered and I thought it was the best for my setting. Our house is rather modest by today's standards (2000 sq ft brick ranch) and I am very pleased with our remodel--the right balance of function, beauty, and cost.
