Rose Friton! Utterly amazing! I was reading your nice comment when there was a knock on my door??? There it was, a package from Nancy Kimball at The Kimball store in Northeast Harbor ME!!! My designer goes sailing 'down Maine' every summer and spotted terry cloth finger tip towels there and knew I was trying to find some! WHY have they stopped making them??? So I Called and finally after talking to the 5th person, was able to order 8 of them for my brand new bathroom! But that was about a month ago and I'd given up! They are not cheap but are beautiful! I LOVE Maine but only got there once, sailing of course! I love my SS large sink from Ferguson so much and it is great for MY OWN LOBSTER POT! When I go to Pensacola (often, only 45 miles from Farihope) the #3 fish market in the US is there and they always have a coupleof huge tanks fullof very fresh Maine lobsters at very decent prices! I figure if I'd gotten a porcelain sink I'd soon drop a cast iron skillet in it...but be sure to get a SS one with rounded corners! I am NOT a clean freak but the square corners are much less sanitary! Even though I removed an outside wall to add 4 ft to the size of my kitchen I was still 'space-challenged' so a drawer DW would have not been easy to fit in. Just being one person now I don't need to open/close mine that often! Thanks for your comment! Ummmm...Maine!!! Margery Griffith

Hide the AC unit - Nice idea but be careful not to restrict airflow. Your AC needs quite a bit of clearance to draw in air. Feet - not just inches. Check with your AC service technician first.

I am in the midst of renovating a bathroom so my functionality radar is on high alert. Obviously, the owners of these bathrooms are not middle aged or older, and do not have sports injuries or any other such ailment that would make the following a concern: walking on a shiny stone floor with wet feet, crawling across rocks to get into a tub without hurting your feet, climbing down into a tub with nothing to hang on without falling on your head. I love these pictures as much as anyone but they are not real life.

For knife storage you can't beat a magnetic knife rack. Sorry, but I don't get knife blocks; they hog counter space and those little slots can provide an environment for bacterial growth and may contribute to rust and tarnish if a knife isn't cleaned & dried properly. The slim undercounter mount is an improvement with regard to space, but little else. My magnetic rack hangs on the side of a cabinet next to my work area; it's well out of the way and makes it easy to find the knife I need. There are some great looking handmade styles of magnetic racks on Etsy, but if you want to save a few bucks they're available on Amazon for less than $20.

We move frequently, so I was looking for a low-cost, easily adaptable solution for my spices when we moved into our most recent home. What I came up with: an expandable, metal utensil tray from Bed, Bath & Beyond that fits into a pantry drawer. It's not perfect, but keeps my spices organized without falling over every time I open the drawer; next time we move, I can re-purpose the tray or pass it on to one of my kids as they begin to set up their own apartments. Lots of great ideas here that I'll take with me to future homes!

My husband and I have been discussing where to our tv for 2 years. The only place we can figure out where to put it is in the corner. there is a 3 ft. protruding 3 sided fireplace that separates the dining roo m from the living room where we want to put the tv. There is no wall space. He wants to hang it on the wall in the corner where the wall and the fireplace meet. I want to buy a cabinet , put it in the corner with the TV on top. This probably doesn't make any sense, but if anyone has an idea I would really appreciate it

TV s over fireplaces is always a bad idea the main reason is that it's too high. Viewing should never be that far above eye level....except in a bar.

I started my first company in a home office in my studio apartment over 30 years ago. My square butcher block dining table and Breuer chairs were the 'desks' for two typewriters used by my Assistant and Product Development Manager. I worked from the sofa and coffee table which had the telephone nearby. The saving grace was six very large closets of which two were used to hide filing cabinets and office supplies. The copy machine - a small OKI workhorse - was covered with a table cloth and candle after hours. This arrangement worked well for four years until I bought a house and used the two upstairs bedrooms, bathroom, three closets and part of the walk-in attic for the office for 23 years. By then, my office staff had grown to six desks used by seven employees and me. More recently, I moved to a house that had been designed by a CPA and has an office wing: a separate staff office with great windows, accommodating four desks, shelves and filing cabinets ... plus I have my own spacious office with a fireplace and windows on two sides that overlook my bird feeding station and gardens. It doesn't get much better than this!

Putting the microwave too high is a common and very dangerous mistake. Especially for people who are not tall, the danger of burns is significant, not to mention spills. TV's also should not be mounted too high, unless you are running a sports bar. The proper height is eye level from wherever you are sitting, at least that is what most experts recommend and what many folks find out when their necks start to hurt.

Ok for above a stove or kitchen, but our bathroom tile was unsealed and water, over the years soaked into the grout and wallboard behind and everything caved in. Happened both here in Maine, and to my house in Md. We got solid Corian that had a stone (they have a marble pattern also, in lots of colors) pattern and it's held up wonderfully and sooooooo easy to clean. I always hated brushing the grout between the tiles. HATED IT!!!!!
