I always have too many pairs of shoes/boots/sneakers in the hallway. I have no place else to put them. Everyone just takes them off and leaves them where they land.... so messy. There is only a very narrow hallway (about 3 feet maybe) so there isn't room for a storage unit and the front closet is packed with winter coats and tool stuff at the bottom and top of the it. I have no answers for decluttering except to have my basement and attic refinished. But these are very nice pics and ideas for others. :)

@Mayang Klyncu, not sure what your price range is... but you can definitely find a sturdy hardwood barstool. Most of what you find at box stores or big places at IKEA might fall apart in a few years, but quality pieces should be fine with care. May I suggest this mission style chair? http://vermontwoodsstudios.com/categories/solid-wood-barstools

We love our leather counter stool for the new peninsula between the kitchen & dining room. We chose the color & leather as an accent to the dark granite & cabinet but also to transition from a kitchen look to the dining room. Comfy & practical for our grandchildren and adult guests.

Anthony. Calophyllum inophyllum: Beauty Leaf grows well in Florida and it's leaves are slightly longer than Ficus Nitida. Ficus Reaches 3-4" leaf length and Beauty Leaf reaches 4-7" leaf length. The Beauty Leaf supposedly also grows taller than Ficus. Beauty Leaf is more often used in Florida. I've never heard of it being used in California but you are from Florida and I'm from California so those are our respective plants. This pic is from Australia so maybe there is something else there. Just depends on where you live. Thanks for commenting.

As for the question about roots..I would put in a root barrier for the Ficus. The Ficus nitida roots are less powerful than Ficus benjamina (which rip up sidewalks). I'm not making any promises about how successful a root barrier will be because ficus roots can get into sewer systems anyway so not always the best solution. There are other plant solutions for hedges so if you need help picking another hedge plant just ask.
