I am a Boston based architectural, portrait and commercial photographer, and a contributing writer and photographer to Houzz. I am always on the look out for homes with inspired, bold, fresh design as topics for "My Houzz" articles. If you know of any, please get in touch with me.

In the architectural realm, I photograph homes for interior designers, architects, realtors, design/build firms, and property management companies. One of the most gratifying experiences for me is when a client tells me that the photographs I took really made a difference to the success of their company. It’s that client focus that really defines my work.

More about Mary: Mary’s background and formal education in communications comes into play with her photography. She earned a bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst before working in marketing and public relations firms for over a decade — including five years at Hill and Knowlton, Inc., the world’s largest. But it was while opening a restaurant (the highly-reviewed Tomasso Trattoria in Southborough, Mass.) with her husband, Tom, that she fell in love with photography. At the same time that she was serving as the restaurant’s in-house PR counsel and food photographer she was also studying at the Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts.

“Having worked in a small business and having used photography to build that business helps me better understand my clients,” Mary says. “Many of them are small business owners too so we have a natural rapport right away.

“People tell me my photos have a certain look. And that’s great, because it means my clients aren’t just getting some generic pictures. They’re actually getting something that connects them to the people they care about most.”
