Alas, I don't have weekends. I work two jobs, seven days a week. Paying off some bills so that I am debt-free next year. Then I will take a month off to do absolutely nothing at all for one loooong weekend!

Loved the article about Staycation...This works well with kids too... and is great for a single parent, because the money you would spend on ground & air transportation, not to mention a place to stay...can be spent on splurging a little, on eating out, fun souvenirs and outings with entrance fees.
When my daughter was 10 years old, I became a single parent and didn't have the funds to take an elaborate vacation. I guess I created a Staycation for us 26 years ago and, it was the best week ever...We began with planning our activities in and around the city by going to the tourism center using brochures. We did everything the way we would have done on vacation, from not making the bed to buying Chicago T-shirts, drinking mugs, taking photos, stayed up late watching movies every night, eating out and without a schedule, sent postcards to family and close friends and...created a photo album for this special week.
Every once and a while, I look at the photo album marked Summer of "88" and smile.
