Thank you for the compliment! It is a perennial groundcover called Pachysandra (pack-uh-sandra) or more specifically Pachysandra terminalis 'Green Carpet'.

Pines are tap roots, cedar can be either tap or have more in common with leafy trees. Which means if it is a pine cutting a near surface root may not harm the tree. One firm at the last National Home builders show was showing a bio mat for under pavers that they claimed the chemical it was saturated with would inhibit root growth. So check with paver supply companies to see if they carry it yet.

If you do that, use 3/4" minus gravel, put down about 2" and compact with a plate compactor. Go over in several directions until you can't press into the gravel. Repeat again until you get a total of 4" or more of compacted gravel. The important thing is to do it in lifts, not just dumping and spreading because that will result in the base (gravel) settling uneven over time.

Would it be possible to get the custom framers information or do you have any other referrals? Thanks!

Hi Merlinda, not sure where you are located, but we use 2 framers.

Anthony's Framing in San Marino did the frames for this project.

The second is J.S. Shiah Company on Main Street in Alhambra. They only work with the design trade but if you want to go there, you can let them know Casawasy sent you and go from there.
