15 Key Pieces for Modern Farmhouse Style

Obviously a farmer would not live here - that's not the point. It's perfectly fine if it's not to one's taste, but the point is just "modern takes on country classics." And in that, it is a great idea book. The "modern farmhouse style is just that - a style. It's meant to evoke the aesthetics of a farmhouse, not to be a literal creation.

Casually browse through Houzz, and you'll find many idea books that encourage and show you how to shop your own home and repurpose and love what you have (which has been invaluable to me). Another casual browse would find some authentic, real farmhouses.

And of course, products will be mentioned. That's a large part of why I (and everyone I know) use Houzz. If I see something I love, of course I want to know where I can find it (or a "reasonable facsimile thereof").

Gee, guess all those modern quilts I spend so much time on in my studio are just a waste of expensive fabric.
Would love to take you to a quilt show some time, the art is alive and well.

Well, yeah! Who doesn't LOVE a candy dish?!

I have one near my desk at work , one on a hall table, and of course, one on the coffee table ( just for laughs , that one is a vintage crystal " grandma dish") and EVERYBODY seems to head straight for them. Of course, I ONLY BUY WRAPPED CANDY

There are so many awesome places to go when looking for Tillandsias. In fact, the SF Flower Mart now sells a wide variety of amazing Air Plants to florists (like us!), making the previously exotic little treasures much more affordable and easier to find! In the SF Bay Area there are a number of super cool small boutiques that sell Air Plants, arrangements, glass globes, and anything else your heart desires. Our most popular gifts this season have been antique china tea cups with tiny Tillandsias perched inside and large hurricanes stuffed with ornaments and topped with Tilandsias. Super cute!

If you want the bark to stay on, you must cut the twigs in the winter when they are dormant. Then they will need to dry. Thicker branches can take up to a year. Even if you split the branches the bark will stay on whether you decide to varnish or not.
This a painting and frame I made with bark on dogwood and birchbark.
