Keerthi Naidu Hi motherbear, any luck finding a lighting showroom in Atlanta? I can think of a number of furniture stores, but not one specifically for lighting....interested to hear what you found and from where!

motherbear there were 2 or 3 showrooms downtown that I checked out....researched them from yellow pages.

patatas I find it really interesting to read the effects room colors have, such as orange being muscle-relaxing.
However, given that most people wake artificially to an alarm clock makes this perhaps the dumbest survey in history. Talk about BAD science.
Enjoyed looking at the rooms though.

leahbeth Oh! This is the plant we inherited in our yard. I never identified it properly! The description is perfect. I tried to move it. It was in a small bed floating in the middle of the lawn along with a clump of Siberian irises, (a truly beautiful pairing, btw). Guess what. It died. But the next summer, a healthy clump crept back up in the original location, now right on the corner of the kids' swing set! It was meant to be. They are delighted by their "rattles" in the fall. Each sprig has many seed pods so you can snap a stick off and it has the loveliest rain-stick sort of rattle! Thanks for the id. I'll have to try out one of the other varieties as well!

marsia I'll try to post something, but I think it may be a while. We keep saving up a little and doing a few more steps. We just got rough framing and rough plumbing and electrical passed by the county. How is your project coming along?

saudicoach @modfan We just had our shower tiled and used epoxy grout. I used a razor blade to get the residua granules off and a product called Blaze by Bostik for removing the haze. It is billed as a "grout haze and general purpose cleaner". I applied the product to not only the tile but the granite as well, which had more of a noticeable glaze. I used a textured sponge that was a bit abrasive made by 3M. Overall I was pleased with the end result. The Blaze does need to sit for at least one minute before you start to work on the area. Hope this helps.

musingfox I have had my shower tiled in a textured porcelain, including a recessed shelf, and I'm having a terrible time keeping the grout between the schluter edge and the flat base of the shelf clear of mildew! I tried the above suggestion with the Oxi-Clean + Lemon juice and an electric toothbrush and it isn't helping.. I think it's because of the slight pillowing in the diamond pattern. I have included pictures showing the whole shower and a closeup of the tile's profile, thou I don't know how well the texture shows up.. Please please help!

Poggenpohl Atlanta Great timing on this, Becky. I just bought a house in Kirkwood and already put in on my calendar to go on the home tour this weekend. Also, Carroll Street Cafe is a favorite and they have the BEST mussels in the city. Also, I love that you listed Modern Atlanta.

Elena Vega This is so fabulous; it makes me want to visit. Thanks, Becky!

motherbear A mosaic tile ARTIST made mine and mounted it on mesh. This was then given to my tile guy. He laid the field tile and cut out the space for the mosaic.....placed mosaic(still on mesh backing) and grouted.

my3sunz33 I already have the mosaics - 7 turtles total. The tile guys I have spoken with said the cut detail needs special tools? Do you know what your tile guy used to cut the round edges? The smallest turtle is only 6 inches and the flippers of course are really small. I will be inlaying them into 18 x 18 inch tiles. Some of the turtles will actually be inlaid into 4 different tiles. I am heading to a water jet expert later but I'm afraid of what the cost could be. I will let you know. Thanks again for the information

motherbear There's got to be a tiler layer in your area that does more artsy work. Ask a popular local interior designer. Is there a good specialty tile store in your town? Seems like they could recommend someone....that's how I went about it. Good luck.
