I surf the net in my home office at the desk my carpenter husband built for me.

We have two offices in our home. (Lucky!) My husband loves his and has filled it with special things and uses it everyday to relax after work. I hate mine. I have filled it with bookshelves, a great work table, excellent lighting, etc. but I never use it. I feel a little foolish spending so much time and effort setting up and decorating a room that has the sole function of simply "Oh... Pretty". We have a quiet home and I have discovered I don't need or even want the seclusion of a 10' x 12' standard room. I have recently put a small drop-leaf table behind our sofa in the living room (sofa hides the normal desk clutter) and this is where I am most happy and productive. I love, love, love the space. I am happy to sit down and write or pay bills or "research" online. Has anyone else had this experience?
