That is from a local store in rsa (http://www.weylandts.co.za) (as far as i know they only have stores here, in namibia and australia). I added it in case you could find something similar, sorry.
Have you tried crate and barrel?

The vacuum air out idea and scanning are great ideas. In terms of volume, I have a lot. I've saved many of my college class handouts, many being great articles and resources. I have lots of tax documents.

Now this is only a suggestion and its hard to practice sometimes:

Have a blue bin right where you pick up your mail and sort before it piles up.

Set up a paper shedder for things that have your personal info on it. (I use the paper for my bird's cage)

Make a pile of what needs to be dealt with now and what needs to be put away in a file folder.

Make a pile of paid/unpaid

It worked for me til I got married lol now it's good luck trying to find the envelopes because hubby gets the mail before I do.

( I'm a visual person and it has to be in front of me to pay)

Out of sight out of mind...

Don't try to hold on for something too too long

But if you are applying for anything important, like a mortgage, make sure you keep your records neat and tidy (it makes the process go way faster)

Ps not to be offensive or anything but with concerns of papers and documents/research paper...

Unless you are going to be using those documents for going for a masters or a doctorate try to reduce the amount of school papers you have.

And the important ones will be published or available in the library if needed.

Like the song frozen " let it go "
