Hi bschr!
I'm happy to hear the paint is holding up well. I never got around to laying the cork (still have the roll in my garage) - it's been 6 months and the stairs still look great. However, I do try to have my family take their shoes off most of the time. I still have extra paint, so I figured I would just touch up if needed.

Even if you only have the budget fir painting the interior, DO IT! Most buyers are willing to overlook the exterior paint job and are more concerned with how the interior looks, mainly because thats where the most time is spent.

What about having two different kinds of wood flooring? We have a dark hand-scraped wide plank (5") engineered hardwood on the lower level and real oak (3") in a natural color upstairs. We have not redone our stairs yet and I'm not sure what would be the best to tie the two floors together. They are carpeted now with the previous owner's different oak edging and banisters.. Any suggestions??

Most types of stone should be sealed to prevent moisture penetration. Installers often apply sealer prior to installation to make it easier to clean the grout

Make sure you get the sealer on the face of the tile, not inside the grout joint. Good luck!
