Hi heather, i am looking to build a prefab house. Can you please share with me the questions you used to select the right builder? Thank you.

Architect Heather Johnston
Hi Kimmy. Absolutely visit examples of their work to ensure the quality is up to your standards. Ask who will design the house - a draftsperson, designer or architect schooled in prefab? Find out what exactly the price includes - do they do local permitting and site prep? How about ensuring they stay on the job until you're happy with the finished product - examine very carefully their pricing structure - sometimes they 'front load', leaving little incentive to stick around until the job is done right. Especially interview the home owners and ask about their experience throughout. Be very careful before signing anything. Consider interviewing architects in your area experienced with prefab and local codes and conditions. Hope this helps!
