I just whitewashed mine! Couldn't afford to do anything different because of new baby :). It was so easy, fast, and cheap but looks completely different. Now I just need to paint the walls (would love to do the trim too) and hang some new artwork....when I find the time!

Yes, you must used a Masonry Primer before painting brick. Be VERY careful NOT to use one that contains Silicone or your paint will slide off. We just re-did ours and are very pleased with this low-budget but satisfying improvement...

bpede03: Here is photo of an all white wall, and a photo of old red brick to look like beige brick using a kit from - I did mine and it took only a few hours and was fun and cheap! I am 100% happy with it, it looks fantastic. More before and afters on their site...
