Hi Sally. On '...one word for your entry'. Just saw a pic of your entry. It's light and cute. I have one suggestion. I can't tell the size of your art above the half round table. Your art appears too high. A very common oversight. Here is a guideline for hanging art. The centers of the crosshairs for the art would have a vertical dimension from the floor to be about 62"-63". No matter how tall you are : ) Hope that helps in some small way.

Thanks for the comment! Great information. I have lots of art to hang, so it will be very helpful to know just how high it should be (before I put nail holes in my newly refurbished walls!!).

We have a new home and I don't like the great room concept. It looks nice but it isn't functional, especially when showing hospitality. The kitchen noise disturbs the conversation in the sitting area. Perhaps I am old-fashioned but I think there is an overemphasis on casual living and dining. I wish we had at least some partial division or a kitchen bar to create some division. I wish architects and builders would start moving away from the great room concept. I suspect that in several years there will be demand for renovations to create more division so people can enjoy rooms with a clear purpose.

Looking at your room again, floor, furniture, kitchen cabinetry, tile all appear in picture to be very warm. Think perhaps its needs to cool down a little. Check out BM Revere Pewter, it is an between color that seems to be a very versatile neutral. Buy a ittle sample pot and paint in two different spots in the room, where the natural light hits it and where it does not, look at it in the day light and at night under artificial light to determine if you really like it. Do the same with other choices as well.
