I expect that those who want to showcase their wines do it for esthetic reasons; not to properly store it. There is a reason that the wine cellar is what it is. However, if a person loves the look of vintage bottles, or has a beautifully made rack, they could save/collect old empty bottles to add this to their decor.

Farmer, goats and dogs. Nothing like watching little pygmy goats chase rottweilers around the pasture.

Our home was set up with a security system when we built the house 20 years ago, but we never used it. Then we decided to have it activated to an outside company a couple of years ago. We were on the road a lot since we retired and live on a river green belt and decided there was a definite risk. We were on a trip only a couple of months later and got a call that our system had triggered an alarm and that the police had been called! Five police cars and police dog were at the scene and my daughter let them in the house. A couple of windows had been damaged but no one got in because of the loud alarm! The police met a stranger coming back in our backyard. He had hid his bike down by the river. Needless to say he was eventually convicted of attempted burglary! We were hooked and definitely believe in an alarm system, especially if your home is in an area like ours!

Thanks, Elaine. That's what I was thinking.

I do want to come down within the next year or two!

I have both, but use the cut flowers as an accent or for special occasions. I have a fiddle leaf ficus in my living room and herb plants in our kitchen year round.

I love my flowering plants outside....Mother Nature helps take care of them. I have a hard time keeping indoor plants alive because I forget to water them. I did have a Schefflera tree from a little ceramic booty we got when my son was born. I gave it to him to keep when he turned 30. He's in Alaska now so the tree is back.
