Hi Tara. I know of MPS Paving Systems Australia who do beautiful natural stone permeable driveways all over the world. I'm not sure who their contractors are in NY area but you could contact them and find out: www.mpspaving.com.au. Hope this helps!

I just loved the patterned furniture article. We have original Suzani chairs, and other furniture, in our store and it's just amazing to see how this cool, old fabric can add such life to a room. Now if only Missoulian's could wrap their mind around filling their homes with it we would have a win, win!

The rectangle green grass planters, the bright orange flowers and the bright wall color make this kitchen scream summer!

Also, with the cabinets, counters and backsplash being neutral you could switch out the decor and repaint down the road with your next favorite color at a low cost to re-style or resell the property.

This article is quite timely! I'm debating on whether to get new den furniture. The current furniture is 21 years old. A queen sofa sleeper and chair and ottoman. On both the sofa and chair, I noticed a one inch patch of shredding. I think I can hold off for a while though.

I'm so into glam offices - why make your conference table boring? Why not put your logo in the middle in 22 k gold leaf? Here, I've tried to create a Monet-ish glass table using verre eglomise old master techniques mixed in with some modern products. Contemporary but with a thousand years of character!

I already had that done when I bought the house. I removed some trees and had the rest trimmed up. The windows are smaller in these older homes and my eves are a lot larger than newer homes. I'll live with fewer house plants since the summers here are really hot. I need the shade.

Did anyone notice that the ZeeZee plant picture had a cat in it? and they said to keep away from cats. Guess what--the cat is smart enough to stay away from the ZZ plant.

I have a Pothos plant at work that is thriving. There are no windows and I am not good at remembering to water it. Somehow it continues to grow and look gorgeous.

Very nice idea book! A couple thoughts. A built in BBQ looks great but remember it is exposed to the elements year round (unless it's under cover). I have yet to see a BBQ that won't sooner or later rust or rot out over time. When that happens you have to find a new BBQ that's an exact fit. I don't know, is there a standard for BBQ's like kitchen stoves? If not good luck! Second, someone wondered if people use their outdoor rooms;the answer is yes. Here in the PNW we use ours 9 months a year, far more often than we use our dining room!

Hide the AC unit - Nice idea but be careful not to restrict airflow. Your AC needs quite a bit of clearance to draw in air. Feet - not just inches. Check with your AC service technician first.
