excellent article... It really takes time to reupholster properly but When I have enough time I love changing chairs, stools and arm chairs. I bought this red flowered bench during a clearance sale because of its price but it was awful with my bedroom decoration. I reupholstered it with light taupe linen and even if it took hours doing it I don't regret it.

I found a wonderful upholsterer by a recommendation from an independent furniture store from which I bought fabric to reupholster a Scandinavian chair. The one that they recommended it turns out is the one that many high-end decorators use. This was many years ago. Since then he has reupholstered other chairs, dining chairs, and made custom cushions for seating on the raised hearth of our fireplace.

I recently bought a Dux scissor chair on ebay. The cushions needed recovering. Luckily, I also found an original ad for that chair, which I also purchased. I scanned that ad for the upholsterer and we went over in great detail how it was to fit, how thick the seat and back should be, etc. It turned out great.

He is now redoing a chair for a friend and said that he will reuse the horsehair when he does it.

Such people are true artisans and deserve our respect.
