see how the balance between formal hard landscape and the soft planting has been achieved, with neither overriding the other. The gardens of Jekyll and Lutyens were geometric in layout but arranged with deliberate asymmetry — the planting being generally irregular, as we can see in this modern scheme

what is the name of the yellow plant at the top of the photo?
for pathway plantings. Fortunately some specimens can withstand the sizzling heat radiating from a sidewalk even in arid regions.
Neutrals, including gray, brown and green, provide a perfect backdrop for other colors. This is especially useful in garden design, where bold-colored plantings can take

What are the two potted plants in front of the hedge - one is variegated green and white and the other to the right of it is purple/blue.
It is Acuba Japonica 'Sulfur' (variegated plant) & the other plant is Loropetalum chinense 'Suzanne'. In zone 7B they have lived in these pots for years. Loropetalum is marginally hardy here, so if we have a very cold winter, I may experience some die back.

master bedroom addition we designed as part of the Orr Residence renovation. The curving limestone paver path is defined by the plantings. RDM and the client selected plantings that are very happy in the shade as this part of the yard gets very little direct sunlight. Check out the rest of the Orr Residence
Do you have a list of plants you could share?
Sorry we didn't see there was a question. The path is all limestone pavers. The client did a lot of the planting and selection but they are all shade plants as the area get almost no direct sunlight. Hope that helps.
i like this but less plants would be a good option
Beautiful little walkway and lush plantings.
A narrow flagstone path through lush plantings turns a sideyard into a magical walkway.

these Hydrangeas planted in a row in front of the trees or in between them? How tall will they get or can you prune them to stay this size? Thanks!
