Matthew, I doubt there was any stain used on the wood. Walnut takes on its own rich color when oiled. We use a Natural Oil on the counter tops we fabricate
measurements and they will ship to you. Installation is easy too. I did all walnut counters in my kitchen with cream cabinetry and it looks great.
