custom wine rack above the refrigerator is a spin-off on the open shelving idea, and the gridlike pattern adds interest to the room. A 3 foot deep custom pullout red wine rack that holds 40 bottles of red, nicely tucked in beside a white wine fridge that also holds another 40 bottles of white. What color and kind of hardwood did you use and the wine cabinetry are custom made .... if yes .... where did you get the wine racks ?
how can we do this for the wine?

prefers wine, so Babakaiff reserved a slot at the end of the kitchen for a wine bar. Thirty bottles of white can fit in the wine refrigerator, while a 3-foot-deep pullout keeps reds at room temperature. A staircase on the other side of the far kitchen wall creates the triangular nook above the wine bar

for the wine? if so how did you do it?
Wouldn't a wine rack above a fridge always be a bit warm & not ideal for wine storage?
store wine. Heat rises so upper cabinet storage of temperature sensitive wine is a bad idea. Throw in the heat generating fridge below that and you have a double dose of wine killing temps. No matter the storage issues, wine storage in this area is not a good idea.
for the wine. With today's modern refrigerators, we find they don't produce nearly as much heat as the old versions did. Not saying it is "ideal" by any means, but sometimes you have to work with the space you have.

Would window storage damage the wine? It looks nice, but it's no good if it ruins my collection.
That wine rack actually leads to another room, and does not get direct sunlight. This bar is also in a public space, so they go through wine faster than a residential client.
