Most of the railings we see around the country consist of some type of wood handrail with wood balusters (either painted or not). Why not take it to the next level and incorporate real wood into the design? Here branch balusters and a rough hewn handrail work perfectly in the rustic design of this space

what color are the walls and trim? LOVE the dark wood with
your ballusters are going to be white, the most common way is to keep the risers white as well, and then choose the same wood species for the rail and treads. If you want more wood, then put in risers of the same species as well. In your example picture, the newel posts are white as well- I just did
