Living Room Fireplace
The fireplace has a stone hearth, level with the floor, that extends about 2' into the room. There is wood flooring under the area rug.

What is the name of the floor? Wood type, color?
the heavy wood table, rug and the styling
This wood box has a pattern typical of the 19th century. Whenever I see boxes like these in antiques stores, I always buy them. They look good anywhere, including in traditional and modern interiors
been found in ancient Egyptian tombs. But ebonized furniture didn't become popular until the 16th century, when Belgian craftsmen began using the dense wood to make detailed panels and moldings. We don't know this marble-topped ebony table's origins, but it is an exquisite example of the 16th-century style

What do you call the wood stacking areas on each side of the fireplace? Silly question I know!
We call them 'wood boxes' or 'built-in firewood boxes'!
the fireplace/wood storing areas in fireplace
I like the wood storage on either side
Like Wood Boxes not the fireplace
likes the height and then ledge - not the wood
Get ready to warm up evenings outside. If you have a wood-burning outdoor fireplace, clean it out. Please never ever ever throw out ashes unless you thoroughly wet them down or have not burned anything in there for months

I like the old wood box with the pillows! Great for storage!
Distressed wooden box, good design and storage
Another use for battered wood crates: Stylish, unpretentious under-table storage.
My all time favorite thing to get is old wood crates. I can never have enough of these as inexpensive and interesting storage solutions around
of fresh design magazines and an icy drink. This is a simple look to recreate at home: collect a few vintage furniture finds (leaving some with worn wood and giving other pieces a lick of white paint), toss in a few striped cushions and a row of Ikea lanterns, and you are set!
