Newel Post And Handrail And Treads
Newel posts don’t need to be old to tell a good story. Architect Tim Barber created a custom newel post in a classic style to match this colonial in Los Angeles.

I’m trying to lay rectangular rail over the top of 3 ½ x 3 ½ square post but the only rail I can find is 2 ¾ wide. Also; is the rail plowed with a fillet or was it originally ran with and extra ¼ inch down the center on the bottom? Thanks!

Thank you for your question. This is a custom made wood railing, that is shorter than the normal height. We typically do not specify composite railings, so unfortunately we cannot direct you to a source.
porch w/wood railing and tongue and groove ceiling with a contemporary clean line aesthetic.
On the outside of this home, the designer effectively combines traditional style — a columned porch with wood railing and tongue-and-groove ceiling — with a contemporary, clean-line aesthetic. ......We're "safe".....We live in the Midwest - Bloomington, IN .........What we deal with here is 4 seasons which include heat and cold. Heavily wooded in Southern IN - so lots of humidity....but no oceans, no salt water.......Maybe a tornado or 2 once in a while though! Smiles...Thank you again.
