I like the idea of the siding providing insulation, rain water barrels and the wood siding
Roof line extends down to the side.
throughout the home. The wood siding was designed using a rain-screen technique. "The wood siding is pulled off the house with 1-by-2 furring strips so air can flow behind the siding," Mehl explains. Master Bathroom Vanity. Custom vanity, reclaimed wood wall.
How was the wood on the wall hung? Is it glued down, or screwed in? Is it real wood?
What is the wood on the wall sealed with to maintain the weathered look but protect it from the humidity?
one other question...is it reclaimed wood or was new wood used and treated to look weathered? Thanks so much!

This project occupies a low ridge at the tip of a small island and is flanked by a beach to either side. The two beaches suggested the image of the two-faced god Janus who was the inspiration for the design. The house is flanked by two large porches, one facing either beach, which offer shelter from
terrain. Massive concrete columns lend strength and support while becoming part of the language of the forest in which the house is situated. Salvaged wood forms the majority of the interior structure and the floors. Light is introduced deep into the house through doors, windows, clerestories, and dormer
What is the floor color and wood?
Do you know what type of wood this is and is it stained? What color stain? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Where do you obtain the siding used on this house
Since you said you are on the east coast, look at Advantage Lumber, they have a website, they carry Ipe and others. I believe the siding comes in ship lap. Their flooring comes in tongue and groove.

red roof with wood cabin - pretty color chairs brighten it up
landscaping is cool. the wood paneling on the exterior is pretty cool too
It was unearthed within a larger home that was slated for disassembly and demolition. After visiting the demolition site to check out some reclaimed wood, the homeowners decided they wanted the entire cabin. They carefully cataloged each piece and rebuilt the structure as a bedroom within their larger

A pair of large windows are framed by a built-in wood desk flanked by open shelves. The desk area is conveniently located off the kitchen and provides a lovely view to the garden.
What kind of wood did you use for the top of the desk?
any chance you could show me the left sided shelves and what you did on that side with shelving, thanks
Hi - what is the type of wood used for the desk top? Walnut? thanks!
Is the desk and shelving (apart from the solid top) made of painted wood or is it a vinyl wrap or something else?
desk and shelving are made of solid wood that has been painted.
Thank you! The side units were custom built and are 12"
Are both sides identical in dimensions?
little longer than I would have guessed. I have an alcove 8 ft x 8ft, with a 6 ft window and you have inspired me to try something similar. Although my side shelves would have to be quite shallow... Would you recall the dimensions of the units you used at all? Thanks very much again! Great space!

Love the concept! My practical side wants to know: how is the wood treated to withstand the moisture? what prevents shower splashes from exiting the open spaces between slats? Thanks.
PennyPie is correct. The wood we used here is Ipe, a durable species that is often used for exterior decks. The wood can be treated or left natural. The horizontal pieces are angled to direct any splashes back towards the shower area.
If you use teak or redwood, those woods are used all the time for
As for the shower splashes - as you can see, the walls are tile, as well as the flooring, so the water would not damage anything. the spacing of the wood looks like there would be very little water, in reality. I really like this idea - it's not only attractive, it would be rather inexpensive, too!
