Is the wood siding treated with anything? What upkeep is required?
Can you give me the source of this barn wood?
I am trying to figure out how some builders get a more consistent look and color in the barn wood.
behind the siding? Is it tongue and grooved together or just applied flat to the housewrap?
is this tongue and groove siding? thanks
The wood is not treated. Over time it will deteriorate, but because this is already weathered barn wood, the aesthetic look won't change. Boards will need to be replaced at some point in the future.
The siding acts more like a rainscreen than the waterproof barrier. The boards are butted together (not tongue and groove) and a black house wrap was installed behind them to provide the waterproofing.

left the wood siding unpainted. All of the items on the deck were scavenged or passed down, or are homemade. The outdoor table and chair set came from Arredondo’s mother. Guillory made the chandelier out of bike rims and vintage glass insulators. The metal shelf, tables and chairs are all yard sale finds

COMBINATION (WOOD AND ROOF) CAN WE MAKE THE CEMENT BOARD LOOK LIKE THIS??
Love this cedar board and batten siding in its natural finish!
grey siding. wood, semi transparent stain

Wood exterior siding is the most expensive option but also the most charming
covered in wood that matches the rest of the house, I'm intrigued by the placement. It is off-center on the plaza, coinciding with the steps that link the patio with the rest of the yard.

Shou-Sugi-Ban wood siding and Monotread wall sheathing. Burned-wood or charred-wood siding, Shou-Sugi-Ban is Japanese wood treatment used in various elements throughout Sett – interior and exterior. Not only does it deliver an attractive aesthetic, the burning also weatherizes the wood, prevents bugs and rot
I'd like to locate a supplier for this wood
distribute the siding in Austin. Please email us for pricing!

Would love to know the type of wood used here as well as the stain/ treatment of the siding? It is stunning.
What product was used to seal the siding?
I love the siding. We have some old redwood
of the wood before it was installed (it was a snow fence in a previous life) I am not sure that there was a sealer used. My understanding is that what you see is simply wood and the aging affects that only time can leave behind.
applied the wood directly to the vapor barrier and sheathing so there is no rain screen in this case. we had continuous plywood sheathing in addition to the gyp. board so hitting studs was not an issue.
Wouldn't mind this roof if it would last for a long time....and the siding is also interesting.
