How are the wood boxes attached to the steel structure.
We are installing similar stairs. The wood boxes were glued to the metal
metal treads, but now the wood is splitting and joints are separating. Can it be caused by temperature differences between the wood and metal, or moisture trapped inside, or what?
Hello, These are indeed wood boxes on cantilevered steel treads. We recommend consulting with a structural engineer if you are designing a similar staircase to ensure the supporting wall structure will function as designed.
