I have had a soapstone countertop in my kitchen for almost 14 years. I love it and recommend it to anyone with a well lit kitchen. It is a great surface for a working kitchen. The first 2-3 years I was oiling the countertops every 10-14 weeks, but gradually became every 4-6 months and now once a year
Pros: Durability is soapstone's top bragging right. It's not unusual in the northeast parts of the U.S. to find soapstone sinks and wood-burning stoves from the 1800s that are still functioning today, so consider this countertop a lifetime investment. Soapstone is a terrific material
natural roughness of its surface can scuff glassware and china. Cost: $70 to $100 per square foot, installedMore about soapstone kitchen counters

What are the floors? Looks like painted wood...?..
Stockholder often creates her work in relation to wall surface and space, so she needs a lot of blank wall space. The walls in her studio range from 12 to 16 feet high.

Main Kitchen
The wood beams are gorgeous. What kind of wood are they made from? Also, they appear to be grey in color. Any idea what stain was used? The kitchen looks gorgeous.
Outfit the island with a sturdy surface. Since your kitchen island doubles as a prep station, go for a durable surface. In this kitchen, designed by Palm Design Group, Lyon used resilient Caesarstone to top the island. “It has a more traditional edge in order to mimic the look of limestone,” she says

Was this a metal building finished out as a home, or a conventional wood frame home made to look like a metal barn?
Exterior surface treatment. Think the sun would play off the surface in interesting ways in the field.
Like metals sides, interesting stone/wood front?

Glass cupboard over sink Molding of heavy wood
After looking at these cupboards, I don't like the plain look of the large flat surface afterall. Conventional cupboards with doorknobs is best.
love the clean lines, and bright, shiny, urban surfaces.
