That material is called Mexican feather grass.
How do you keep the feather grass controlled? I know the have tons of seed pods and spread like crazy. Does the homeowner prune them when seeds appear

THE GRASSES THAT ARE PICTURED HERE HOW HIGH DO THEY GROW?
The tall grasses on the left and right are miscanthus varieties --- an exotic invasive. They are threatening our natural areas in MD. I'd advise against planting these.
