is enclosed within the library walls; a reclaimed wood bench near the Entry and the Bay Window oversized built-in sofa provide storage and gathering spaces for the children. The Kitchen was completely remodeled with a new island as a focus point. Photo: Muffy Kibbey
f your library is sizable, don't try to style your shelves but allow the books to take first place. Even if your shelf space exceeds your collection (lucky you!) put other things on the shelves sparingly to allow the eye to rest. Draws below:

Make full use of the space for books

Questions4
The open space, wooden table and white bowls with colorful fruit inside them.
Excellent guest room space over a garage etc
in available spaces. Looks fine to me.
The gable-shaped ÁPH80 is fairly open in the middle and solid at the ends, owing to the placement of the living space in the middle
The model shown here is the largest one; it has an open living space between the bathroom and the bedroom. Here we are looking toward the bathroom, which shares a wall with the kitchenette. The ventilated, gray cement board facade gives way to sustainably sourced wood inside. In between is wood framing

1500 SF cabin is a superb place for a weekend get-a-way, with a garage below and compact living space above. The roof is “lifted” by a continuous band of clerestory windows, and the upstairs living space has a large glass wall facing a beautiful view of the mountain face known locally as Goat Wall.
10-ft. of snow, I would be a bit nervous about a north-facing roof. By the way, make sure you over-insulate the roof (R-50 or more) and have a 2" air space above the insulation so that the interior heat does not reach your roof surface.
utilization of space above the ground

What is the total area for the upstairs living space? Can it be expanded or reconfigured to have 2 bedrooms?
This guest house above a garage is exactly what I wanted. The maximum size of the living space is 800 square feet for Bainbridge Island in Washington. Do you do work out of state?
The garages and heightened living space
Lots of garage space but not overly obtrusive on the house design. We'll balanced.
outbuilding with man cave/play space above?!
umbrella is an option, though doing so eliminates the cage and the layered spaces that are created by those columns. What's left is a shading device that, by floating above the roof of the house and jutting out into the surrounding space, emphasizes the horizontal and open rather than the defined and enclosed

One coloured wall, colour theme lots of shelving space.
Shelves provide a great space for family photos. The limitations of height keeps them more or less in line, and the matching paint on the shelves and walls allows them to stand out

This room's design shows how unobtrusive and sleek the Parsons desk is. It doesn't take up a lot of physical space, and it takes
takes even less visual space. A clunky desk with lots of drawers would have made this room look much too cramped.

with flooring, then work their way up, and this space shows why that approach makes perfect sense. The slightly ethnic feel of the rug, in soft grey and cream, sets the tone for the room, so that all the other elements fall into line for a calm, cohesive space.

We transformed this outdoor space into a beautiful retreat and then gave the living room a design lift for indoor and outdoor spaces that our client can sit back and relax in!
the different pockets of space in a small space
Creating a contemporary seating space otudoors is surprisingly simple as well as comfortable and inviting. A softly colored but not too sweetly pastel rug anchors the space, the dark wood of the deck and furniture is modern in feeling, and bright red accents
