placing stripes horizontally instead of vertically
Try placing stripes horizontally instead of vertically. This makes a space feel a bit more modern and updated. Notice that the welt on this chair was cut on the bias, which means the stripe was placed with a soft slant

Like the fireplace. Not just the one candle at each end . Also the way the art is placed rather hung. More curative
Avoid placing identicals on opposite side
Avoid placing like items at opposite ends of a fireplace mantel. (Imagine how dull this mantel would have been if one candlestick sat on each end.)
