The City of Alameda is an island city of 79,000 adjacent to the City of Oakland. Alameda is known for its large number of Victorian homes, tree lined streets, excellent schools and parks and two quaint downtown districts. The Community Development Department consists of Planning, Building and Economic Development. All permit activity is handled at the one-stop Permit Center located at Alameda City Hall. Permit Center Staff assists customers through all aspects of the planning and building permit process.
