Silverleaf Ranch Hacienda Entry + Exterior
Silverleaf Ranch Hacienda Entry + Exterior
Drewett Works
This Ranch Hacienda hillside estate boasts well over 13,000 square feet under roof. A loggia serves as the backbone for the design. Each space, both interior and exterior, has a direct response to the linear expression of outdoor space. The exterior materials and detailing are rustic and simple in nature. The mass and scale create drama and correspond to the vast desert skyline and adjacent majestic McDowell mountain views. Features of the house include a motor court with dual garages, a separate guest quarters, and a walk-in cooler. Silverleaf is known for its embodiment of traditional architectural styles, and this house expresses the essence of a hacienda with its communal courtyard spaces and quiet luxury. This was the first project of many designed by Architect C.P. Drewett for construction in Silverleaf, located in north Scottsdale, AZ. Project Details: Architecture | C.P. Our client desired an outdoor entertainment area perfect relaxing with friends and dining, we created a welcoming entrance to the backyard with a winding concrete paver that leads to the outdoor living area. Easy access to and from the space through a sliding glass door into the eat-in kitchen was enhanced with a wrap around E.P. Henry staircase with custom wood railings. Upon entering the space, you are greeted with a warming fire pit capped in thermal bluestone with ample seating to gather around on those chilly fall nights. Coming further into th eoutdoor "room" you will find a raised patio area intended for sun bathing and relaxing. Privacy fencing was used to create a feeling of seclusion. The entire outdoor living space is surrounded with lush plantings that provide interest throughout the year. Low voltage lighting sets the mood perfectly as the sun goes down and invites you to use the space long into the night.

The courtyard entrance to this historic Santa Barbara home is anchored by the central water fountain. The french doors that line the courtyard provide abundant natural light and ventilation and allow the subtle sounds of the fountain to permeate the home. Photographer: Emily Hagopian

The client wanted an inviting entryway and courtyard area added to their home. They also wanted to reuse existing specimen plants from their former landscape such as the Hinoki Cypress, Japanese Laceleaf Maple, Montgomery Blue Spruce and several other plants. The welcoming front walk was designed to flow between the plants harmoniously.
