We just had our popcorn ceilings smoothed and had a painting contractor come to give us a quote on painting the ceilings and the rooms affected by the ceiling work. He looked at the 30 year old track lights in the living room and asked "Do you like these lights?" Well, I had never really thought about it. We have lived with them for the 20 years we have been here and they just have become invisible to me. I do not "like" them. But on the other hand I don't hate them as I did the popcorn ceilings.

My question is, what would be an alternative? We need light to illuminate the stereo area where we store all the CDs and to illuminate a large painting above the fireplace.
