what size of area rug for under a twin size bed

I need an area rug under my daughters twin size bed. I have a rug 53x89. is that appropriate? I was thinking of placing it so the rug protrudes more from the sides of the bed and also starting it about halfway from the top of the bed so there is rug out at the bottom of the bed. I've looked at a bunch of pictures and see what i'm thinking but when i did it i wasn't sure if it looked right or not.

Just make sure she can get out of bed and have her feet hit the rug. If you start halfway, will that happen? Sometimes an angle looks nice, too, instead of a rectangle sitting on top of a rectangle.
