How to best sell 2 bedroom, 2 bath house in town with bad market.

Location: Central NJ. Charming 1920's 2 floor dutch colonial with lots of windows, open floor plan, 2 porches, patio, hardwood floors, 8" crown moldings, wood burning fireplace in living room, nice quiet street, big yard, 2 car detached garage, basement, attic, eat-in kitchen with big garden window and skylights. The house is about 1300 sq. ft. Would the house look bigger if it was empty when on the market. My 1st floor walls are a pretty periwinkle blue. The walls are in excellent condition, but should I repaint them white or pale off-white or very light gray? (I have white woodwork everywhere, and because the're so many windows, very little wall space shows. I also have white kitchen cabinets, and white bead-board half walls in the 2 bathrooms. My look cottage like, If I stage, should I put in a more contemporary look...maybe like the :Young House Love" look. Thanks.

Here are some photos I took during the holidays...I know when I sell, I'll have to take a lot of furniture out...or all of it. Any advice? Thanks.

I agree. Speaking as a Professional Organizer, I understand that most people cannot see through "stuff". I'd advise you to remove everything and only leave simple pieces only to suggest what that particular room functions as. Bed, table and chairs, couch, flowers and a fresh scent. A few inexpensive pieces from ikea.com would work well.
I organize for new homeowners often. I frequently hear that the fresh baked cookies & fresh flowers mattered. The cookies make it smell like home and the flowers remind us of life progression similar to blooming flowers. So as they tour the home that small added bonus makes all difference.
    Many blessings to you.

Ps....I'd leave the color for now. It plays well with the bright white trim. But the moldings and trim speak volumes. So let them sing.....
Remove everything add modern Ikea furniture and your home will sell in no time.

Think BARE minimum, you are SELLING your house, so it isn't YOUR house it is real estate inventory is the mindset you need to have, make it marketable by not having your personality shine, but the possibilities shine. Have it SUPER clean, NO clutter, no personal knick knack stuff, storage areas need to cleared out. You don't need Ikea pieces, just basic pieces are fine, just LIMIT furnishings. Color is fine. Staging a house is about presenting the house as valuable merchandise, different than showing a lifestyle through decor choices. People want to see the bones of the home, the features, highlight those and you should do great.

Reduce the price. Selling is ALWAYS about price. Buying is about value for the price.

We sold our 800sf cottage in a horrible market with it basically empty but with "suggestion" pieces. The tiny bedrooms were left empty, the kitchen/dining area had a small round table with two chairs, the living room had one couch, chair, small coffee table, and tv stand, the office area had a desk, lamp, and chair.

Everything was freshly painted (except the wood stuff), cleaned, and sparkling.

It was under contract within 24 hours at a price we were very happy with.

Any good real estate agent should be able to tell you how to do this. I would take everything out. Buyers want to see space, not stuff. Pricing needs to be appropriate for the area, and for the house. You never know who will want the house. Again, the agent should give you proper information about that.

I've heard that empty houses take longer to sell and houses sell better when they are staged with a minimum amount of furniture that shows the purpose of each room, i.e., sofa in living room, table and chairs in dining areas, etc.
