I'm in southwest Virginia...far from Minneapolis, darn. There is a good furniture store near my town that meets the description of lefty47's suggestion of a custom sofa. I know they are uber expensive but we really need something very comfortable, beautiful and functional...hard to find in a local store where the sofas already start out so squishy one sinks to the floor upon sitting down. Looking at a sofa on the internet is ridiculous, I buy a lot on the internet but not furniture, have to sit on it and look it over carefully...thank you all for your super great suggestions, they have helped very much

We had to custom order a wood door and they matched it exactly. I remember seeing panels similar to yours in the selection. The only door that was not exactly a match was the new door leading to our garage. That had to be fire rated with no glass. I would give them a try.

Some fab ideas there. I would love to see drop-down pendants or modern chandeleir-type ceiling light fittings instead of the ones flush to the ceiling - I think they would add a huge amount of life to the room if your budget could stretch to it. And you could consider swapping those two table lamps on the console for a standard lamp with a funky colour shade.

Sounds like your son really knows what he likes! Ordinarily I'd say to choose some curtains with a little more oomph and then use those colors to coordinate your comforter and other pieces, but I think you'd have to be sure you can coordinate with a bed covering he likes. You do need some warmth in there -- wood, leather, or curtains, pillows and other accents. Masculine doesn't have to be cold.
