HI -- I think an area rug that all the bedroom furniture sits on is the better look. Smaller bits and pieces of carpets just doesn't do it. I do not like the way the carpet is in the picture shown above.

IMO, a bedroom area rug needs to be pulled up enough that your feet land on it first when you get out of bed.

Looks like you need an 8 x 10 or minimum 6 x9. Groveraxle is right, you want to put your feet on the area rug when you get out of bed so it should come up close to night tables, extend 24" from each side of bed and 36" or more at foot of bed.
