I'd like to update my kitchen cabinets and island with more color. These are the original cabinets in the house built in 1977; they were a dark walnut stain that I stripped and whitewashed. I asked a painting contractor about these colors and he thought the red was a bit "too much." I chose these colors based on similar colors present in my kilim floor rugs and other decor items. I'm also thinking of adding a black glaze over the base colors, which could tone down the red a bit; as well as replacing the over the counter cabinet faces (left of the refrigerator) with glass.
