The floor is white oak. It is also quarter-sawn cut which affects how the wood takes the stain. Different cuts of the same species will take the same stain very differently. And different batches of the same species in the same cut will take the same stain differently. Confused yet??
This particular floor had a stain that was custom-mixed on site with the flooring sub-contractor and used throughout the entire home so I don't have the exact formula for this particular project and even if I did I couldn't guarantee that it would appear the same on your floors as it does here.
As for trying to blend red oak and white oak -- this is a difficult, although not impossible, task. The color in the floor above is probably too light to work well on red oak and you'll probably be better going into a much darker brown color. This task also is best left to a professional with a very good eye in working with custom color stain tints.
