What kind of fireplace is this, is it see thru?

We live in kc also, and I've had this exact idea in my mind to divide my 53' x 16' room by a focal point fireplace wall like this. We overlook a golf course and have 15' ceilings..so similar! This photo was so helpful for my husband;)
