Boston blend mortar color

Some of the dimensionality is muted with the wide grey mortar. Have masons ever used a darker color mortar to give the illusion of more depth to the stone?

Thank you for your question. Yes, customers do use darker mortar to give the illusion of more depth. Although I dont have a darker mortar image to show you, here is a picture of our Boston Blend Round using the natural gray mortar by Laticrete™ in which the mortar was recessed.
