My sofa is against a wall (17') and I do plan to have lamps. I am trying to transition from traditional to something more contemporary. My dining table (also on the wall) has an open iron base with a glass top, I have two 5' sideboards on the opposite wall (17') which are rather contemporary with silver scroll work on the fronts. I am stuck with a brown velvet sofa and two accent chairs, one is a brown and cream zebra print and the other a dark brown geometric. I would like something with very clean lines and plan to use teal and possibly gold as accent pieces, even though my light fixtures, cabinet pulls and door hardware are brushed nickel. I live in SW Florida. I appreciate your help.

Ali is 23 months old!!! I am having a ball!! I had 2 boys, now I have a grand daughter! All of the fun, none of the drama. GTB, I can totally understand about the library. I dread the day I have to purge my books. When we built ours, after it was finished and we put the books in, it was totally full. I had no wiggle room!! It is a wall 12' high by 12' long!! I just cannot get rid of them. And now with my grand daughter, I am buying a boat ton of children's books!! Chris VanAllsburg is my favorite!!
