sinks centered under medicine cabinets? height of med cabinets?

Do sinks "have" to be centered under medicine cabinets? We have a wall where we have enough room to fit two 20" medicine cabinets with a wall sconce on either side of the medicine cabinet and one centered in the middle.

If we center the sinks under the medicine cabinets then we will have a functional bank of drawers in the center (about 12" wide), cabinets under the sink and 9" on either side of the sink cabinets, just enough for a very narrow bank of drawers (which would not be very useful) or a tall pullout (kind of like a spice rack) for bottles, etc.

If we don't center the sinks under the medicine cabinets, we would have a much wider bank of drawers in the middle (about 22" wide) and then just 24" sink cabinets under the sinks.

What would you do?

Also, with the sconces, we will have a recessed can over each sink. With 8' ceilings and finished height of the vanity at 36" and an 8" backsplash, would you have 30" or 40" tall medicine cabinets?

I like to line up the top of the medicine cabinets or at least the glass itself with the 80" top of door height . . that cuts a lot out for a short person at 30" but may work for taller people well. Do splurge for the cabinets that have mirrors inside and out, adjustable glass shelves, etc. they are well worth being able to find what you stash there and the extra mirror near the face is invaluable. If you are doing a tall splash, you will want to get the outlets down into the splash so you don't need room for them too.

Layout your cabinets and then layout your medicine cabinets. Use grid paper and draw it both ways - if it suits you not to center, there is no rule However - the skinny pullouts are often more useful than undercounter space in a bathroom. . . It all gets used.

Thanks. I have drawn it out both ways and it looks better to me centered with the skinny pullouts but saw a picture here on Houzz where sinks and medicine cabinets didn't line up so just wondering if there was a rule. We're also moving the sink cabinet doors up so that we can have a usable drawer underneath. We're going with Robern med cabs so it'll have the mirrors and adjustable glass shelves. We have room on the side walls for the outlets but thanks for the reminder.
