We have contracted in 7 states and the current code for most if not all states require outlets at the counter-tops in kitchens. The best way to hide them is to use Wire Mold style track and insert receptacles into it.
This mounts under the upper cabinets and can also carry power to under-cabinet lighting. This is NOT the only manufacturer but they do have several options. It must be 'hard-wired" to meet code, a plugged power strip will not.

Be sure to tell your cabinet maker or your supplier of your plan as a properly sized revel will be necessary to hide both the wiring and track as well as the lighting.
