Is our coffee table too large for our living room?

This is a beautiful table we purchased which is 50inches by 50inches (square). However, we are having mixed feelings about the size of it being too big. Ideally, it would have been nice if it was 50inches by 35-45inches?

Any thoughts?

    Lower your art over the fireplace or just try setting it on the mantel. Art over sofa should be hung 5 or 6 inches over the sofa.
