Annie Sloan paint with Carrara marble counters

I am planning on painting my bathroom cabinet with Annie Sloan chalk paints. The countertop is white Carrara marble (don't have a sample to show) with white Carrara basketweave flooring. I want a whitish cabinet but do not want stark white. I'm worried that a cream may look yellow next to the marble. Two questions: 1) what is the best color to go with a Carrara marble countertop? 2) how well does the finish hold up in a bathroom and should I use the wax or a polyurethane finish?

Can you paint a few samples on scrap wood and take them to a showroom or a stone yard to see how they would look next to the marble?

I saw this article this morning and after reading your post I thought it might be something to consider for your bath. They used a combination of Paris Grey and Old White on the revamped sideboard, not a true white, but looks like it could be very soft and pretty with Carrara.

Thanks! I'm going to the store that sells the paint today. Any recommendations on wax or polyurethane to finish the cabinet.

I have only used it for a chair and used the wax, so I can't give you an educated answer on the best finish for cabinets. Here is a link to another thread that might be interesting. There have been several discussions on the topic on Houzz, you might be able to do a search and get additional info.

Using Annie Sloan in a wet area sounds risky. I would prioritize protecting the wood from water damage.

What did you end up painting your cabinets? I am in the process of trying to choose a cool white to go with a carerra marble kitchen but don't want it to look to cold. I brought the AS old white home and it is definitely too warm...Makes carerra look blue and old white look dingy. Thx.
