What would you do with these beams and all of the wood?
Comments (4)As a color consultant, you already know there's way too many yellow/gold undertones throughout the space with the lighting making it worse. The wood trim is clashing with the kitchen cabinets as well. Depending on available budget...change the lighting and paint great room cooler color...paint or reface the kitchen cabinets...change the floor tiles to cork or bamboo not the fight with the trim...gut the kitchen....See MoreTo paint the beams, not to paint the beams.
Comments (9)If the beams are not particularly beautiful or full of character, let the painter sand and paint them. That will look good against the grey walls you are proposing. I don't usually subscribe to wood being sacred...I paint wood all the time. Doors and trim and cabinets are wood. The problem with a stain is good chance it will clash with the wood tone of the stairs and railing....See MoreHow to paint dark den with wood beams
Comments (4)ooh, lovely beams. i'd leave those as-is. maybe a smaller couch, or a loveseat instead would open up possibilities for furniture arrangements. that being said, how would you feel about, after the mirrors are gone, hanging the TV on that wall, with some kind of chest or dresser under it for storage, and then you could have a chair across from the fireplace. as for painting the fireplace, i would not paint it high gloss. white's fine, light color's fine, but high gloss, i think, would look odd. the light would reflect on the edges of all the bricks, and i don't think it would be a good look. do paint the brass surround though. use high-temp paint (it usually has a grill pictured on the can) to do it. or get a new surround for it. that brass is dated. and i would leave the ceiling fan if the room has little or no cross ventilation. it'll help keep the room cooler in summer and warmer in winter. you can always get a new fan if the metal color bothers you....See MoreHow would you rather this paint job?
Comments (9)We hired a contractor to build our house from start to finish and he uses his own workmen for every aspect (painter, electrician, plumber, etc.). So it's not a separate price, it's all inclusive for the house price....See Morelefty47
