I have a similar setup.

At the top of the wall, China Girl hollies form a spiky barrier (don't want anyone falling over the wall, which was a possiblity when we first moved in. Friends had to watch their toddlers closely.) and Juniperus 'Blue Rug' that drapes down the wall and looks good all year round. Uninspired choice of plants, but they do the job.

Hi, I have a cinderblock retaining wall as well, and I have often wondered how to conceal the look of it.

When my budget permits, I plan to brick the wall to match our home. Our wall sits on the driveway as well, and there is no lawn to plant directly into to cover the wall.

However, I came across this picture and it seems like a great solution. You could construct a planting border similar to the one shown below, and then use plantings to cover the wall. I don't know your budget, but if you are a DIYer, you could build this yourself right on top of your paved driveway.

Just a suggestion, I hope this offers some inspiration.
