Extending trellis for climbing roses

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for me to post this, but here goes: I put in three metal trellises last year along a fence and planted three roses. Now I realize that I need to have something in between the metal trellises for the roses to climb on. I would love to have some ideas how to provide this. I thought of finding or having someone build simple lattices to go between them, or perhaps, more simply, just attach some kind of fencing between the existing trellises, maybe to the wooden fence.

I am not real handy at building, etc., so need something simple.

I am going to attempt to attach a picture, but having never done it before, don't know how successful this will be.

Climbing roses can get quite large, and I think yours will outgrow those little trellises quickly. If you google images of climbing roses, you will see most of them supported by sturdy wooden or metal posts in a variety of designs.

I've seen roses grown on sturdy vertical posts with chains or very heavy rope suspended in swags between the posts, which might be a good solution for you. I couldn't find a picture of it.

You can make taller trellis supports out of long pieces of rebar from the building supply, bent into the shape you want. Check the rose forum for more suggestions.

The bigger the container, the better. I wouldn't even bother with anything less than 18" diam and 24" depth. Container roses will need more winter protection.

Location and home facing direction will determine if plan is feasable. It's completely inappropriate to grow roses on balcony railings even if climate and home orientation permit roses in that location. In some areas of the country, Rose Rosette has made growing roses almost impossible.

If it is on your property and not touching the fence you certainly do not have to get rid of it. I am also not familiar with your local building codes or HOA (if you live in a neighborhood with one). I would just contact your local building official and ask. Should be very easy to clear up. Your best bet is to try and work something out with your neighbor though. Probably don't want to make the neighbor mad since you do live right next to them. Hope you figure it out! If you have a few seconds would you mind liking my idea book for my playhouse design? kaye1951, it's the Riviera - way more purple than it looks online. In the end I just had to make a choice. I'd like it more blue than purple, but this is what I've got. For now. Unless I hear a compelling reason not to I'm painting the fascia over the door back to white.
