How to use single Xmas-tree-shaped boxwood in informal garden?

We inherited a nice little variegated boxwood when we bought our house. It's about 4' tall and shaped like a little Christmas tree. I can't figure out how to incorporate it in my cottage-style beds -- it seems so formal! If I had 2 I think they could flank something (the front steps, the front gate), but I'm stumped about how to use just one. At the moment it looks ridiculous trying to anchor the corner of the house on its own. It does seem like it should be a focal point somehow, and I'm going to be building lots of new gardens in the next couple of years, so I could move it and design something around it. What would you do? How can you make a single pyramid-shaped shrub fit into a cottage garden?
